Welcome to NIDA

Nailsea Intercultural Dancing Association

- Creating opportunity for dance and movement for families and individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds

NIDA was established in early 2009 under the support of the SREC (Somerset Racial Equality Council). There have been regular dance sessions held in Nailsea on Friday evenings since then, with members from Nailsea & Backwell, Clevedon, Portishead, and the surrounding areas such as Weston-Super-Mare, Long Ashton, and central Bristol. Our dance sessions are open to all people (including families with children) with a wide range of cultural backgrounds and age levels.

NIDA focuses its activities on dancing, but the agenda can also be flexible to meet the requirements of people. We have had a number of teachers who are experienced in various types of dancing, and so far we have systematically learnt La Roc, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, CoCo Line Dance, La Walk Line Dance and Tennessee Waltz Surprise Line Dance. We have also learnt some basic steps for Tango, Waltz, Rumba, Traditional Jive, Swing, and so on. NIDA members have presented dance performances at various community events in the North Somerset from 2009 through to early 2012, and some of the performance photos are in NIDA Photo Album.

NIDA has provided a fantastic social platform for people to meet, share their knowledge and experience, and have good times. We warmly welcome more people to join our group and the membership is free. There is no need to book your place. Just pop in, meet the people and join the dance.

Date/Time: Every Friday evening, 20:00-21:30.

Place: Nailsea United Reformed Church
